Young People

Welcome to the St Dunstan's Lazers page. Lazers is our group for young people 11+. We encourage young people to think for themselves and talk about the challenges of having a personal Christian faith in our society. Sunday morning meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month, starting with everyone together in the main church at 10am. The group is (generally) led by Sharon Morgans but sometimes Mel Cartwright and Martin Haenlein. We do fun activities that also have something to do with God or saving the planet and people less fortunate than ourselves.

We are currently on a mission to try to use £10 and turn it into as much money as we can, which will all be given to charities. We will be divided into 3 groups each led by Sharon, Mel or Martin and have come up with a variety of charities to support. We will then decide which one to support, and then come up with some money making ideas such as a fair-trade stall or washing people's cars, saying all money goes to charity, which it will, of course.

Our Sunday evening group (for year 9 and above) also meets at 7:15pm at the vicarage or church fortnightly for confirmation classes. Here we discuss what we would need to do to become official Christians by having a confirmation and how we can become better Christians, like in Alpha courses. As with Lazers, we do lots of fun things, and as there's no church downstairs, things can get a bit rowdy. We play all sorts of games from table tennis to spoons, using whatever space we can. We also sometimes look at real life examples of real people who've converted, or people who have, in their darkest hour turned to God for help, and then we go about eating all the biscuits. In case anyone's worrying, to get to the get to the vicarage. Exit the main building, turn right. Go straight across the road, then turn right again and keep going to the end of the pavement, and it's the first house on the left.
